Last updated: 20 October 2026 · App: GaganMitra (by Astrophiles)
GaganMitra is a stargazing app. It works on your phone and does not have user accounts, advertising or analytics. This policy explains what the app uses, where it goes and what you can do about it.
What the app uses and why
| Data | Why | Where it goes |

| Your location | To show the sky above you and work out what is visible tonight. | Calculated on your phone. An approximate position (rounded to about 1 km) is sent to Open-Meteo to get your cloud forecast. |
| Camera and photos | Only if you add photos to your observing log or use the camera sky view. | Stay on your phone. They leave it only if you choose to share an observation card. |
| Age and observing experience | To tailor visibility predictions (the eye's pupil changes with age). | Stored only on your phone. |
| Your log book, observing lists, gear and settings | To keep your diary and preferences. | Stored only on your phone. |
| Notifications | Only if you turn on reminders for sky events or for an object rising. | Scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere. |
| Motion sensors | For "Point phone" mode, to show the part of the sky you point at. | Used live on your phone; nothing is stored or sent. |
